The heavens/Angels/Heavenly realms were cloaked/covered/shrouded in a veil/mist/shadow and fear/trepidation/doubt permeated every corner/hearts of men/the land. Humanity lived/survived/endured in a state of constant/ever-present/unending anxiety/terror/dread as the forces of darkness/shadowy powers/evil entities ran rampant/held sway/spread their influence.
